Joan Earnhardt Melchor Litaker

Joan Earnhardt Melchor Litaker, 94 peacefully entered into the presence of the Lord on Saturday, October 26, 2024, at her residence; surrounded by her loving family, following a short illness.

Joan was born July 7.1930 in Cabarrus County, NC, a daughter of the late Edgar Williamson Melchor and Gladys Anderson Melchor. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 73 years, Harry Lee Litaker, Sr. who died March 25, 2015.

Family members left to cherish her memory include a son, Harry “Chip” Litaker, Jr. and wife Jennifer of Houston, Tx. and a daughter, Tamara “Tammy” Gamble and husband Glenn of Concord. She is also survived by two grandchildren, Elisabeth Tiller and husband Chris of Georgia and Kristin Smith and husband Jerry of Concord. Also surviving are four great grandchildren, Charlotte Tiller, Jed Tiller, Isabella Smith and Levi Smith.

She also leaves behind her loving German shepherd Lily. 

Joan was a 1948 graduate of Concord High School. She served as a trust officer at a local bank and also assisted her husband at Litaker Photography Studio in Kannapolis. Her Life was centered around her family. She was a longtime member of Flow-Harris Presbyterian Church in Concord. 

Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, October 29, 2024, at Flow-Harris Presbyterian Church, 308 Winecoff School Road, Concord, NC 28027conducted by Rev. Christine Conrath., The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park.

The family requests that memorials be made to Flow-Harris Presbyterian Church, 308 Winecoff School Road, Concord, NC 28027 or to Atrium Health Hospice and Palliative Care of Cabarrus County, 5005 Hospice Lane, Kannapolis, NC 28081.
