Joan Litten

Obituary: Joan M. Litten, age 91, died in Concord, North Carolina on December 23, 2017. She was born in Vaughnsville, Ohio on October 2, 1926 to J. Lloyd and Helen E. (Sneary) Roberts, who preceded her in death. On August 17, 1947, she married Dale E. Litten of Vaughnsville. Joan graduated in 1944 from Vaughnsville High School, as Valedictorian. Mrs. Litten retired in March of 1990 as an administrative secretary from the Vaughnsville and Columbus Grove, Ohio School System. For over 50 years was an active member of the Vaughnsville United Methodist Church and the Evening Guild. Joan was a member of the Columbus Grove Chapter 527, Order of the Eastern Star and the Progressive Mother's Club. The past several years she has attended Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church in Kannapolis, North Carolina; and was a member of the K. Lee Scott Circle. Joan was also a substantive member of the Happy Bookers Book Club. She is survived by: Christine Barkimer, Concord, NC; Carol (Steve) Eyler, Davidson, NC; Joy (Steve) Wolanin, Clemmons, NC. Seven (7) grandchildren: Matt (Robin, Zach (Laken), Kyle, Megan, Brian (Steven), Erin and Mitch; and three (3) great grandchildren: Brinn, Luke and Clay, with a fourth great grandchild expected in January. Mrs. Litten was known for her heart of gold and her loving smile. She was an avid reader and a lover of music-gifts she passed on to her daughter and her grandchildren. She followed sports, especially the Columbus Grove Bulldogs, the Ohio State Buckeyes and the Carolina Panthers. Joan was known to her family as a tenacious board and card game player; more often than not winning at Tripoley, Push or about any other game that required skill, a good memory and some luck. Most of all Joan was loved by ALL who were blessed to know her, here on earth; as she has now joined her Lord and Savior. Visitation will be 2:00-4:00 P.M. and 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Thursday, December 28, 2017 with funeral services Friday at 11:00 A.M., both at Harman Sons Funeral Home, 10879 SR 12 West, Columbus Grove, Ohio 45830. Interment will follow in Vaughnsville Cemetery, Vaughnsville, Ohio.
