Joan (Brafford) Smith

Mooresville

Joan Brafford Smith, 68, of Mooresville went to her heavenly home on December

29, 2020 at Novant Rowan Medical Center.

She was born September 17, 1952 in Mecklenburg County, a daughter of Frances

Freeman and the late Kenneth Richard Brafford. In addition to her daddy she was

preceded in death by her grandfather Otho Deal , her granny Mable Deal, her

aunt and uncles Gene( Evelyn) Deal and Wayne(Helen) Deal. Those left to cherish

her memory in addition to her mother are . Her brother Kent Brafford(Dinah), Her

daughter Cyndi Walton, Her son Micah Roseman(Stephanie) , Her nephew

Thomas Mabry(Krizel), Her niece Anne Mabry Goodnight(James),Her grandson

Evangelist Jesse Walton(Hannah), Her great grandchildren Hailey Taylor and

Wyatt Walton, And a very special friend Sharon Eagle,and her former spouse Al

Smith Jr. And Aunts and uncles and other friends a family

Joan graduated from South Rowan High School. After high school she went into

the medical field where she became a medical technician working at Novant

Rowan Medical Center. She worked in many different areas of the hospital; she

was known for her hard work and wonderful bedside manner, until her

retirement after 40 plus years of medical service . Joan loved spending time with

her family and grandchildren and great grandchildren . She enjoyed going to

Beaufort N.C , going Christmas shopping, The Wizard of Oz, going to the

restaurant cookout and getting milkshakes, Talking about her childhood and her

granny “ The Good Ol Days” , she loved studying her KJV Bible and talking about

the second coming of her lord and savior Jesus Christ . She will be truly missed.

A private memorial service will be held at Whitley’s Funeral Home by Minister

Daniel Aldridge and Evangelist Jesse Walton.

Memorials may be made to St. Judes Children Hospitals.
