Joann Brooks Sherrill

Obituary: Joann "Jo" Brooks Sherrill, 82, of Kannapolis passed away on Wednesday, November 12, 2014 after a period of declining health. Her funeral will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, November 15 at Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel and the family will receive friends at Whitley's from 1:00 to 2:00 PM prior to the funeral. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. Jo was born December 16, 1931 in Cabarrus Co., the daughter of the late James W. and Ethel V. Jones Brooks. She was a lifelong area resident and graduate of J.W. Cannon High School. Jo attended UNCC and worked for the Daily Independent for 42 years until retiring. She was a member of First Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School, attended her Women's Circle, and was a former Deacon. Jo enjoyed traveling with her husband and spending time with her family. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and will be deeply missed. She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Norris Sherrill of the home, her sons; Dana Sherrill (Cheryl) of Salisbury, Brent Sherrill (Debbie) of Concord; grandchildren, Laura Mullis (Jason), Lindsey DeArmas (Roberto), Jeremy Sherrill (Helga) and Jessica Galagan (Steve) and 8 great-grandchildren.
