Joann Nivens Traylor

Obituary: JoAnn Nivens Traylor, age 67, passed away on Thursday, June 4, 2015 at Morningside Assisted Living, Concord, NC after a long courageous battle with cancer. She was born September 9, 1947 in York County, SC, the daughter of the late Billy Saxton and Gertie Paxton Nivens. JoAnn was a homemaker for most of her life. She also worked at Sears, Carolina Mall, Concord, NC for several years. She attended Charity Baptist Church, Kannapolis, NC. JoAnn was also a member of the Piedmont Shag Association and had numerous friends that she enjoyed spending time with at the beach and playing cards. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Mike Traylor. The funeral service to celebrate her life will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, June 6, 2015 at Whitley's Funeral Home Main Chapel, Kannapolis, NC officiated by Rev. Marty Peyton. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park, Harrisburg, NC. The family will receive friends from 12:00 to 2:00 PM Saturday at the funeral home prior to the service. Survivors include her two sons, Preston Dale Traylor and Michael Shane (Jennifer) Traylor, both of Harrisburg, NC; one grandson, Trajan; two sisters, Linda (Ronnie) Tucker and Dora Carrigan; a sister-in-law, Debbie (Ray) Padgett; and an uncle, David (Esther) Traylor. The family would like to say a special thank you to the staff of Morningside Assisted Living for the special care given to our mother during this difficult time.
