Obituary: Joe Franklin Compton, 85, passed away Friday, January 13, 2017 at Transitional Health Services of Kannapolis. Born March 27, 1931 in Mooresville, NC, Joe had honorably served his country with the US Army during the Korean War, where he fought on the frony line for 4 months. He had worked in the trucking industry, driving for various companies in the area, including RC Cola, Sealtest and Bost Bread. Earlier in life, he and his wife always enjoyed trips to the beach. Joe was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Harris Compton, a granddaughter, Emily Compton and 14 siblings. Family members include his sons Joe Compton and William Compton (Pete Smith), his grandson James Matthew Compton (Carole) and his 2 great-grandchildren Carson and Cooper Compton. Graveside services to remember and celebrate Joe's life will be held at 1:00pm Sunday, January 15th at Carolina Memorial Park. Mr. Compton will be laid to rest in Carolina Memorial Park, with his wife Betty.
