Obituary: Joe F. Compton, Jr., 65, of Kannapolis passed away on March 4, 2019 at his home. He was born May 17, 1953 in Cabarrus County, a son of the late Joe and Betty Compton. He was raised by his dear grandparents, Ralph and Odessa Harris. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Emily Kay Compton. Joe retired from Interstate Brands of Charlotte where he worked as a salesman. Joe was a wonderful husband, dad and grandfather. His favorite hobbies were fishing, hunting and enjoying his two precious grandchildren, Cooper and Carson. He loved the Chicago Cubs, Washington Redskins and was a true Blue Devil fan. Joe was a character of jokes, laughs and good times. Joe was inducted into the Cabarrus County Sports Hall of Fame where he received his certificate for baseball on October 28, 2018. Joe was a member of the 1971 Northwest Cabarrus High School Trojans 3-State Baseball Championship on June 6, 1971. Joe leaves behind his wife of 44 years, Martha Dover Compton, son, Matt Compton (Carole) of Morehead City, two grandchildren, Cooper and Carson, brother, Scott Compton of Kannapolis, his dog/his girlfriend, Zoe, sister- in- law, Brenda Delaney (Mick), brothers-in-law, Ken Dover, Billy G. Dover Jr. (Tina) and several nieces and nephews. Special thanks to Brenda and Mick Delaney, Phil and Deana Moore, Tracy and Robin Little, Ashley Hinson and Cabarrus Hospice for all their help, love and caring. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, March 9, 2019 at He's Alive Church, 1310 N. Cannon Blvd. officiated by Rev. James Smith along with Rev. Doug Hardin sharing words and prayers. His family will receive friends following the service. Your life was a blessing, your memory a treasure, you are loved beyond words and missed beyond measure.
