Obituary: Joe Franklin Crowell, 81, of Concord went to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 3, 2015 at CHCS-NE, Concord. Death was unexpected. Joe was born April 26, 1934 in Stanly County, NC a son of the late Roy Allen Crowell and Prebble Jane Kirk Crowell. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Jean Cauble Crowell on Dec. 11, 2009, one grandson; Jamie Ramsey and two brothers, Charles and Leroy Crowell. Joe was a veteran serving with the US Army. He attended Genesis Baptist Church. He was owner/operator of Cedar Hills Trucking Company. He later worked for Southern Packaging Company and JB Hunt until his retirement. He was a member of Derita Lodge #715 AF&AM, Scottish Rite, Charlotte Valley, and Oasis Temple. He was a past President of the Cabarrus County Shrine Club. Memorial services will be held 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, May 6, 2015 at Whitley's Funeral Home Main Chapel conducted by Rev. Gene Edwards and Rev. Neil Crowell. Interment will follow in Carolina Memorial Park with Masonic graveside rites. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the memorial service. At other times they will be at the residence of the daughter, Diane Barnette of Kannapolis. Survivors include three sons, Danny Crowell (Linda) of Belmont, Sammy and Scott Crowell of the Home, one daughter, Diane (Ronald) Barnette of Kannapolis and one sister, Prebble Jane Henrickson of Concord. He is also survived by four grandchildren; Brent Barnette (Linda), Neil Crowell (Bekah), Jennifer Anderson (J.T.) and Amanda Crowell, and eight great-grandchildren; Josh Barnette, Mariah Crowell, Katie Crowell, Taydius Crowell, Parker Anderson, Emily Crowell, Vander Anderson and Addalyn Crowell.
