Joel Gwen Howard

Obituary: Joel Gwen Howard, 70, of Salisbury, passed away on Sunday, February 10, 2013 at his residence. His death follows a period of declining health. Mr. Howard was born on November 6, 1942 in Iredell County, the son of the late Gray and Sarah Vanpelt Howard. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by a step-son, Steven R. Brown. Graveside services for Mr. Howard will be held at 1:30 PM on Saturday, February 16, 2013 at Rowan Memorial Park with Rev. Ralph Robinette and Rev. Kenneth Reynolds officiating. The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM on Saturday at Whitley's Funeral Home prior to the services. Mr. Howard was previously employed by Boral Brick Manufacturing Co. as a forklift operator. He is survived by his wife; Patricia Diane Howard of the home, his daughters; Janice Gras of Shallotte, and Stephanie Diane Brown of Concord, a son; Stevie Howard and wife Lisa of Rockwell, four grandchildren; Brandon Howard and wife Ashley, Krystal Howard, Christopher Ray Brown, and Eric Steven Tyner, and a great granddaughter; Sarah Elizabeth Howard, brothers, Gary Y. Howard and wife Dot, and Wayne W. Howard both of Kannapolis.
