Obituary: John Richard Anderson, 90, of Concord, NC passed away at CMC-NorthEast in Concord on Nov. 13, 2014. John was born on Aug. 16, 1924 in Cortland County, N.Y., the son of the late Richard M. Anderson and the late Eleanore Pickens Anderson. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a brother, Robert Anderson and a sister, Marilyn Lansing. John was a dairy farmer and later a produce farmer in partnership with his father and brother. He was a member of Central United Methodist Church. John loved hunting deer, antique cars and horse drawn buggies. Survivors include his wife, Donna Bowen Anderson of the home; 4 sons, Walter Anderson, William Anderson (Janette), Warren Vail and Steven Vail (Deborah Atkinson); 2 daughters, Lisa Watts and Marlene Smith; 12 grandchildren including a special, loving granddaughter, Ashleigh Watts of Charlotte, NC and 11 great-grandchildren; a sister, Jean Stoker. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 16, 2014 at Central United Methodist Church conducted by Rev. Andy Langford. The family will receive friends in the parlor of Central Methodist immediately following the service.
