Obituary: PendingJohn Newton Beaty III, age 50, died Saturday, September 10, 2011 as a result of a car/motorcycle accident.He was born May 16, 1961 in Tyler County, West Virginia, the son of John Newton Beaty II and Naomi Erlewine Beaty. He was a 1979 graduate of Paden City High School, Paden City, West Virginia. He was also a 1984 graduate of the West Virginia Institute of Technology, Montgomery, West Virginia. John was employed with the City of Charlotte as a team lead program analyst since 2007. Prior to that he was a computer consultant with Oracle and PeopleSoft. John was a member of StoneBridge Church Community, Charlotte, NC where he had taught Sunday School with his wife for the younger children of the church. He also participated in the Mens Ministry, Community Outreach, an active church leader, and active in other phases of church activities. He was loved by family and friends and even though he was soft-spoken, his impact was felt by many. The love of his life was his family, hiking and camping with his son and friends, and riding his motorcycle.He is preceded in death by a brother, Richard Boyd Beaty. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 16, 2011 at StoneBridge Church Community, 3700 Prosperity Church Road, Charlotte, NC. A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m., Friday at Carolina Mem. Park, Kannapolis, NC. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Thursday, September 15, 2011 at Whitley's Funeral Home, 1748 Dale Earnhardt Blvd., Kannapolis, NC.Survivors in addition to his parents include his wife of 24 years, Cathy Lynn Smith Beaty; his daughter, Sarah Beaty and son-in-law, Randy of Kannapolis, NC; his son, Michael Beaty of the home; two brothers, Patrick James Beaty & wife, Lisa of Concord, NC and Paul Joseph Beaty & wife, Lisa of St. Marys, West Virginia; and his granddaughter, Layla Grayce Frye; and several nieces and nephews.Flowers or memorials may be made to StoneBridge Church Community, 3700 Prosperity Church Road, Charlotte, NC 28269.
