John "Buddy" Anderson Besig

Obituary: John Anderson "Buddy" Besig, Jr., age 53, of Kannapolis went to be with his Heavenly Father on Thursday, August 15, 2013. His death was unexpected. Buddy was born August 13, 1960 in Syracuse, NY, the son of the late John A. Sr. and Betty Hard Besig. He moved to this area from Syracuse in 1992. Buddy was a forklift service technician at Braswell's in Kannapolis and was currently working for Mazzella Comp. in Charlotte as a crane/lift/hoist service technician. He was the Employee of Distinction Award recipient for 2012. Buddy was a faithful member of Word of God Baptist Church in Kannapolis. He was a loving and generous man, willing to help anyone in need. Buddy will be deeply missed by his family and friends. Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 4 years, Marsha Woodard Besig of the home, his step-daughter, Laura Almond of China Grove, his step-son, Christopher Vinsant of Kannapolis, his grandson, Avery Almond, his sister, Sandra Fleegel (Robert) of Kannapolis, his niece, Andrea Fleegel of Newport News VA and his In-laws, Rev. Jerry and Norma Woodard of Kannapolis as well as many other loving relatives. His funeral will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, August 19 at Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jerry Woodard and Pastor Steve Hogge officiating. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at Whitley's Funeral Home from 12:00 to 1:00 PM on Monday.
