Obituary: Kannapolis, NC- John Richard Blackburn, age 86, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, September 3, 2013 at CMC-NorthEast, Concord, North Carolina. He had moved eight years ago from Asheville, NC to be close to his sister, Daisy Hinson, Kannapolis, NC. He was born July 26, 1927 in Buncombe County, NC, the son of the late John Blackburn and Edith Lipe Blackburn. John was a graduate of Lee-Edwards High School, Asheville, NC. John was employed in printing with Sugar Hill Press, Asheville, NC for many years until his retirement. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday, September 6, 2013 at Lewis Memorial Park, Asheville, NC. Survivors include two sisters, Jane Robinson and Shirley Mossberg, both of Asheville, NC; three children; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two nephews; and one niece. Whitley's Funeral Home, Kannapolis, NC is in charge of arrangements.
