John Morrison Cross

Obituary: Mooresville, NC- John Morrison Cross, age 73, passed away on Friday, November 22, 2013 at CMC-NorthEast, Concord, NC after a short illness. John was born June 29, 1940 in Iredell County, NC, the son of the late Joe Morrison Cross and Katie Lee Poston Cross. He was a graduate of Landis High School. In earlier years, John was employed with the former Linn-Corriher Mills, Landis, NC as an overseer. Later, he continued his career in textiles with other companies in the area. He is fondly remembered as a man who loved and played music, cooking for others, and hunting and fishing. He especially loved his children spending time with them whenever possible. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by a grandson, Jonathan Spry; and a brother, James Cross. The funeral service will be held at 1:30 P.M. Sunday, November 24, 2013 at Whitley's Funeral Home Mn ain Chapel, Kannapolis, NC officiated by Pastor Robert Suttles and Mr. Jack Cross, his brother. Burial will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park, China Grove, NC. The family will receive friends from 12:00 to 1:30 P.M. Sunday at the funeral home prior to the service. Survivors include his children, Sandra C. Myers & husband, Marvin of Laurel Springs; Debbie C. Spry of Mooresville, NC; Johnny M. Cross of Salisbury, NC; Deborah L. Cross of Salisbury, NC; and Thomas J. Cross & wife, Jennifer of Statesville, NC; five grandchildren; other family members include Brian P. Brown of Salisbury, NC and Michelle Brown Nodine of China Grove, NC; one brother, Jack Cross and two sisters, Janelle Bentley and Carol Bostian, all of Mooresville, NC.
