John David Ritchie

Obituary: John David Ritchie, 59, of Concord passed away April 1, 2019 at home. He was born June 25, 1959 in Edgecombe County, a son of the late Rev. Hoke Henderson Ritchie Sr. and Clara Eunice Cook Ritchie. He was preceded in death by a brother, Hoke H. Ritchie, Jr. John had been a career truck driver for various trucking companies in the area, including Yellow/Roadway Freight (YRC) until his health failed. He was a member of Center Grove Lutheran Church. John loved music and enjoyed singing in the church choir. John had also been a volunteer fireman. John graduated from Thomasville Senior High School and studied electronics at Davidson County Community College. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, April 7, 2019 at Center Grove Lutheran Church officiated by Rev. Loyd Ginn. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. His family will receive friends prior from 1:00 to 2:00 PM at church. John is survived by his sisters, Miriam Ault, Martha Ritchie and a nephew, Mel Ault.
