John Edwin Long

Obituary: Kannapolis, NC- John Edwin Long, age 70, died unexpected on Monday, January 28, 2013 at CMC-NorthEast, Concord, NC. John was born December 2, 1942 in Cabarrus County, NC, the son of the late Willis Abernathy Long and Margaret Elizabeth Lee Long. John was employed with Harris-Teeter, Matthews, NC as a computer programmer. In earlier years he worked for the former Pillowtex Corp. and Keene Corp., Charlotte, NC for many years. He was also a veteran of the U.S. Army having served during the Vietnam Conflict. Being an adventurer, he especially enjoyed skydiving when he was younger. He had been a member of Keller Memorial Masonic Lodge # 657, Rockwell, NC for many years. In addition to his parents he is preceded by a grandchild, Jacob E. Doolittle. A private memorial service will be held at a later date. Survivors include his wife, Cindia L. Long; three daughters; one step-daughter; six grandchildren, and two-great-grandchildren.
