John K. Mihealsick

Obituary: John K. Mihealsick, 91, formerly of Allenport, Pennsylvania, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, June 20, 2018 in Americus, GA. John was born July 7, 1926, a son of the late John and Helen Balog Mihalcuk. He was employed as a crane operator for Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel Mill in Allenport, PA for 37 years. He valued hard work and even constructed his own home. He enjoyed refinishing furniture, going to auctions and was an enthusiastic collector. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed the outdoors. He was a veteran of the US Army serving during WW2 with the 17th Airborne in Belgium and Germany. He received two purple hearts and the European Theatre Service Medal with three Bronze Stars. Family left to cherish his memories are his wife of 69 years; Gertrude Mitchell Mihealsick, four children; John Charles Mihealsick and wife Roxanne of The Woodlands, TX. , Deborah Culbertson and husband Edwin of Taylors SC., Rebecca Goodnght and husband Michael of Mooresville, NC., and Timothy Lee Mihealsick of Monogahela, PA. He is also survived by two brothers, Pete of Dunlevy, PA and Charles of Allenport, PA, eight grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews also survive. A Memorial Service to celebrate his life will be held 11:00 A.M. Friday, July 6, 2018 at Whitley's Funeral Home Annex Chapel conducted by Rev. Mike L, Hubbard. His interment of cremains will follow at Salisbury National Cemetery Annex at 2:00 P.M. with military graveside rites by the US Army. The family request that no flowers be sent.
