John David Mills

Obituary: Kannapolis, NC- John David Mills, age 73, died unexpectedly on Thursday, February 17, 2011 at his home. He was born March 15, 1937 in Union County, NC, the son of the late John Clingman Mills and Gladys Mae Birmingham Mills. John was employed with the former Pillowtex Corp., Kannapolis, NC Plt. #1 #7 Weave Room and had worked for the company for 50 years until his retirement. Later, he worked at the City of Kannapolis WasteWater Treatment Plant. John was a dedicated member of Bethany Bible Church. His family fondly remembers his love of going to the NorthEast Medical Fitness Center for exercise therapy and the friends he made there. He, especially, loved joking with his grandchildren. He will always be remembered as a loving husband, father, & grandfather by his family. The funeral service will be 2:00 P.M. Saturday, February 19, 2011 at Bethany Bible Church, Kannapolis, NC officiated by Rev. Bobby Sutherland and Rev. Chris Messina. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park, Kannapolis, NC. The family will receive friends from 12:00 to 2:00 P.M. Saturday at the church prior to the service. The family will be at the home the remainder of the time. Survivors include his wife of 39 years, Sue Deal Mills; four children, Michelle Daniels & husband, Steve and John Allen Mills & wife, Kim, both of Kannapolis, NC, Kim Overcash and husband, Darrell of Landis, NC, and Jeff & Velvet Mills of Concord, NC; a special sister-in-law, Joyce Roach of Landis, NC; six grandchildren, James Mills, Ryan Mills, Jennifer Mills, Zachory Overcash, Nicholas Daniels, and Madison Daniels; one great-grandchild; and two sisters, Rosa Hancock and Jackie Rowell, both of Kannapolis, NC. Memorials may be made to Bethany Bible Church, % Youth Group, 623 N. Juniper Street, Kannapolis, NC 28081.
