John Lewis Oliphant

John Lewis Oliphant, 88, of Kannapolis, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, January 1, 2025. 

John was born on October 24, 1936 in Rowan County. He was a cherished son of the late Willie D. Oliphant and Margaret Helen Mayhew Oliphant. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife Nedda Bebber Oliphant; brother, Mac Oliphant and sister, Erma Lee Jones.

John was passionate about fishing, bowling, and his family. He enjoyed many years with his wife, Nedda, and together they shared a love for bowling, actively participating in leagues and traveling to places like Reno for competitions.

A hard worker throughout his life, John could often be found working on his yard or on a project. He also had a deep love for the Atlanta Braves baseball team. His warmth, generosity, and spirit will be missed by all who knew him.

Those left to cherish his memory include his children, Jeff Oliphant (Linda) and Wanda Bolin (Mike); granddaughter, Christine “Nikki” Hardister (Kenny); three great-grandchildren and brother James “Jim” Oliphant (Marcie). 

The family will receive friends from 10:00 am to 11:00 am on Monday, January 6, 2025 at Sharon Baptist Church in Kannapolis. The funeral service immediately follow the visitation at 11:00 am with Pastor Jim Strickland Officiating. Interment will be at West lawn Memorial Park in China Grove.
