Obituary: John Franklin "Frank" Rary, 78, of Kannapolis went home to be with his Lord on July 31, 2015 from Tucker Hospice House after a brief period of declining health. His funeral will be held at 1:00 PM Monday, August 3 at Central Baptist Church, with Rev. Curtis Parker and Rev. Alan Reid officiating. Inurnment of cremains will follow at Carolina Memorial Park at 11:00 AM, Friday August 7, 2015. The family will receive friends at Whitley's Funeral Home from 7:00 to 9:00 PM on Sunday, August 2, at other times they will be at his residence. Frank was born December 6, 1936, in Cabarrus Co., a son of the late E. V. and Pearl Foil Rary. He was a lifelong area resident and was a member of Central Baptist Church. Frank was a supervisor in the Tin Shop at Cannon Mills for many years. He then worked for an HVAC shop in Mooresville and eventual worked for and retired from Home Depot in 2004. Frank gave 28 years of dedicated service to the city of Kannapolis as a Vol. Fire Department District Chief at the Royal Oaks Station. Frank loved to repair lawnmowers and was affectionately called "the lawnmower man" and always said he could fix anything except a watch because his tools were too big! He enjoyed fishing, camping and spending time with family and friends. He will be deeply missed. Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 23 years, Dean Rary of the home; his daughter, Jan Swaringen, his son John L. Rary (Rita), both of Concord; his stepchildren, Rita Brigman (Rick) of Mooresville, Rhonda Lewis (Rick) of Kannapolis and Regina Cambell of Landis. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren as well as a brother, Everette Rary (Toots) of Kannapolis and several nieces and nephews, including a special nephew, Chris Lambert.
