Obituary: John Wesley Sexton, 83, of Concord, passed away on Thursday, July 26, 2018 surrounded by his family. Mr. Sexton was born in Haywood Co., NC on September 23, 1934 son of James Harrison and Lula Gillespie Sexton. In addition to his parents, John is preceded in death by; brother and sisters; Paul L. Sexton, Irene S. Conover, Beulah S. King, Patsy S. Pattford and Inez Beck. John was a resident of this area for 45 years. He was a member of J. Kannapolis Baptist Church and was a pricing analyst with Standard Trucking for 32 years. John was a proud Marine Corps veteran serving in the Korean War. Survivors include his loving wife, Billy Sexton of the home; two sons, Tracy N. Sexton of the home and Michael A. Sexton of Kannapolis; a daughter, Christy S. Medlin of Kannapolis; eight grandchildren; John David Sexton, Nathaniel Sexton, Nicholas Sexton, Savannah Sexton, Ashley Sexton, Jarrett Medlin, Tanner Medlin and Caden Medlin; a great-grandson, John D. Sexton, Jr. Also, by his brothers James and David Sexton and a sister, Linda S. Ashe. The service for Mr. Sexton will be held on Sat., August 11th at Kannapolis Church of God conducted by Rev. Greg Sloop. The family will receive friends from 11:00 to 1:00 before the service at the church. Burial will be private.
