John William Steger, II, 71 years old, of Salisbury, went to be with his Lord and Savior on November 1, 2023. John was born on July 11, 1952, in West Virginia to the late John W. Steger, Sr. and Joan Kathleen Dillon Steger.
John had a great sense of humor, who loved to make people laugh and tell “Dad” jokes. John started working in the food industry over 40 years ago working for BiLo, Farm Fresh Market, and several Food Lions in the area. John also worked for Freightliner and drove a truck for Pepsi as well. John loves music and was very musically inclined. He was a song writer, could play the guitar or anything with strings and the drums. He enjoyed watching the movies Shrek, Roadhouse, Cars and old westerns. John also restored old Chevy trucks and cars and his last car was a 1973 Super Beetle. He had a green thumb and a passion for gardening and grilling.
John is survived by his wife of 13 years, Tracey Gulledge Steger; his daughters, Shana Mullis (Chris), Sonya Steger (James Sawyer “Moose”); his grandchildren, Rayleigh Mullis, Brynnlee Steger, McKinley Mullis, Brantlee Sawyer, and Lina Treece; his brothers, Mike Steger (Donna) and Jeff Steger (Edith Draper); his sister, Janet Foster (Dennis); and his stepsons, Tyler and Jesse Treece; his former wife of 30 years, Leann Morgan, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, November 11, 2023, from 1-2pm at Whitley’s Funeral Home, with a 2pm service in the Whitley’s Funeral Home Chapel.
