John Zimiri Warlick

Obituary: John Zimiri Warlick, age 82 of Mooresville NC died September 10, 2009 at home. He was born on July 15, 1927, the son of the late Zeb Zimiri Warlick and the late Lura Lackey Warlick in Lincoln County North Carolina. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marie Taylor Warlick. Mr. Warlick is survived by his daughter Elaine W. Funderburk and husband Ron of Mooresville, four sisters, Ruth W. Turner of Gastonia NC, Janelle W. Harrington of China Grove NC, Sara W. Hembree and husband Jack of Virginia Beach VA, and Marlene W. Dover and husband Calvin of China Grove NC. John was a World War II veteran and a member of American Legion Post 262. He graduated from North Brook School in Lincoln County, attended Lenoir Rhyne College and retired from Akers Motor Lines. For many years after retirement, he served as Chairman of the Akers-Central Retirees Club. John was active in community affairs. He was a long time member of Northside Baptist Church. Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday Sept. 12, 2009 at 3:00 PM at the Northside Baptist Church, 333 Jeremiah Blvd., Charlotte, NC by Rev. Glenn Stevenson and Dr. Charles Foushee. Entombment will be in the Forest Lawn Mausoleum, Freedom Drive. The family will receive friends at Northside Baptist Church one hour prior to the service. Whitley Funeral Home, Kannapolis NC is serving the Warlick family. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Iredell County, 2347 Simonton Rd., Statesville NC 28625 or to the Northside Senior Adult Ministries.
