John Woodard

Obituary: John Howard Woodard, Sr., 87, of Kannapolis died Tuesday, May 5, 2015 at his home. He was born October 1, 1927 in Chesterfield County, S.C., the son of the late John Mathis Woodard and Bessie Mae Jordan Woodard. He was preceded in death by his wife, Doris Woodard on October 18, 2014, son Matthew Dewitt Woodard, granddaughter, Bobbie Jo Johnson and great granddaughter, Jenna Alyse St. Clair. Mr. Woodard retired from Cannon Mills after 45 ½ years where he worked at Plant 1 # 6 Weave Room. He was a member of Centerview Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the US Army 1951-55. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Thursday, May 7, 2015 at Whitley's Funeral Home officiated by Rev. Willie Rash. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 11:30 to 1:00 PM prior at Whitley's. He is survived by son, Harold Ford (Diane), daughters, Jean W. Goodman (Steve), Jenny Bradshaw (Danny), son David Woodard all of Kannapolis and a son Johnny Woodard of Texas. He is survived by 9 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren. Memorials may be made to Centerview Baptist Church, 415 Walter St., Kannapolis, NC 28083.
