Johnnie Frye

Obituary: Johnnie H. Frye, age 83, passed away on Sunday, January 5, 2014 at Concord Place Assisted Living, Concord, NC. She was born February 25, 1930 in Union County, NC, the daughter of the late Albert Lester Helms and Sarah Frances Austin Helms. Johnnie was a homemaker for most of her life. In earlier years, she worked for the former Cannon Mills Company, Plant One, as a seamstress. She was a member of the Lutheran faith for most of her life. She is fondly remembered as a lady who loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Craig Suther Frye; and one sister, Mary Helms Hess. The funeral service will be held at 7:00 P.M. Thursday, January 9, 2014 at Whitley's Funeral Main Chapel, Kannapolis, NC officiated by Rev. Leon Smith.. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 10, 2014 at Carolina Memorial Park, Kannapolis, NC. The family will receive friends from 5:30 to 7:00 P.M. Thursday at the funeral home prior to the service. Survivors include her children, Steven Craig Frye of Cherryville, NC and Patricia Frye Huffman & husband, David of Mooresville, NC, Elizabeth Saunders of Rock Hill, SC and Cynthia Bozenski of Tega Cay, SC; grandchildren, Jennifer Whitley Treece, Ashley Huffman Atherton, Tracy Huffman Harrison; great-grandchildren, Brandis and Tenley Atherton; three sisters, Pauline Bowers, Evelyn Mincey and Jacqueline Helms. The family would like to say a special thank you to the staff of Concord Place Assisted Living for their unconditional love and care of Johnnie for almost four years. And also the family would like to thank Hospice & Palliative Care of Cabarrus County for their assistance in Johnnie's care for the past several months.
