Johnny Gibbs

Obituary: Johnny Gibbs, 84, of Kannapolis died Monday, February 19, 2014 at Transitional Health Services. He was born October 6, 1929 in Corpus Christi, Texas, the son of the late Claude A. Dill and Mary Underwood Dill Greene. He was preceded in death by his wife, Peggy Gibbs, two children, Joseph E. Dill and John Wayne Dill, and two sisters, Katherine D. Funderburk and Dovie Jane Eyler. Johnny was owner/operator of A-1 Brick, Block and Concrete for many years. He was a veteran of the US Coast Guard. He was a member of Charity Baptist Church. He enjoyed gardening and hunting. Graveside services were held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, February 22nd at Carolina Memorial Park. He is survived by his 3 children; Linda Dill Nelson of Ft. Pierce, Fl., Claude A. Dill, III (Kathy) of Concord, and Dovie Dill Goodnight (Randall) of Concord, 10 grandchildren and his brother, Ed T. Dill (Ada) of Pfafftown. Whitley's Funeral Home handled arrangements.
