Obituary: Johnny Wrenn Kennedy, 58, died Wednesday, November 6, 2013 at his residence. Mr. Kennedy was born February 21, 1955 in Iredell County to the late George Grover Kennedy and Dixie Hooper Kennedy. Johnny was a Mechanic; he loved motors; loved his, wife, kids, and grandkids; but most of all he had a great love for Jesus. Survivors include his wife, Wanda Gail Kennedy of the home; three children, Donna Martin of Kannapolis, Wendy Surkosky (Mark) of Kannapolis, and John Coxey (Kathy) of China Grove, NC; six grandchildren, Christopher Coxey, Schuyler Surkosky, Ron Helms, Madison Surkosky, Johnny Dylan Oliver, and Raegan Surkosky; three great grandchildren, Easton Coxey, Chloe Coxey, and Emery Coxey; a brother, George Kennedy, Jr. a sister, Deborah Kennedy; and his step-mother, Colleen Kennedy. A gathering of friends will be 6-8 p.m. Saturday, November 9, 2013 at Whitley's Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital 262 Danny Thomas Place Memphis, Tn. 38105.
