Obituary: Salisbury- Johnsie Winecoff Brown, 94, passed away Sunday morning, April 7, 2019, at Trinity Oaks Health and Rehabilitation, where she had been a long time resident. Born November 18, 1924 in Kannapolis, she was a daughter of the late Floyd Heilig Winecoff and Vivian Hurlocker Winecoff. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Hope Brown; sisters, Reba Coggins and Bernice Davis; and brother, Leonard Winecoff. Johnsie was a 1942 graduate of A.L. Brown High and had attended Catawba College. In 1944, she married Hope Brown and worked as a secretary for Cannon Mills, later becoming the secretary for Center Grove Lutheran Church for many years. Mrs. Brown moved to Trinity Oaks in 2002, where she remained until her death. She loved all of her Trinity Oaks family and enjoyed the time she spent there. She loved her family, and enjoyed traveling and playing bridge. Mrs. Brown leaves cherished memories to her sons, Michael Winecoff Brown (Cheryl) and Daniel Mark Brown (Betsy); her granddaughters, Hope Elizabeth Russell (Adam) and Lauren Michelle Brown; and her great-granddaughter, Palmer Grace Russell. The family will receive friends from 10:00 - 11:00 am Saturday, April 13th at Whitley's Funeral Home. Funeral services to remember and celebrate the life of Mrs. Brown will begin at 11:00 am in the funeral home chapel, conducted by the Rev. Ward Misenheimer, pastor of Advent Lutheran Church in Charlotte. Mrs. Brown will be laid to rest with her husband at Carolina Memorial Park Cemetery.
