Obituary: Kannapolis, NC- Johnsie Mae Caldwell Garrett Clark, age 89, died Saturday, April 4, 2009 at Five Oaks Manor, Concord, NC. She was born November 20, 1919 in Gaston County, NC, the daughter of the late Ollie Andrew Caldwell and Mary Weathers Caldwell. She was employed for many years with the former Cannon Mills Company. She was a long and faithful member of Shadybrook Baptist Church, Kannapolis, NC. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her two husbands, Gordon Garrett in 1973 and Ernest Clark in 1995. Also, preceded are a step-son, Nelson Clark and a brother, Dr. Paul Caldwell. The funeral service will be 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, April 8, 2009 at Whitley's Funeral Home Main Chapel, Kannapolis, NC officiated by Rev. Rick Oxford. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park, Kannapolis, NC. The family will receive friends from 12:00 to 1:00 P.M. Wednesday prior to the service. Survivors include her step-daughter, Barbara Clark Saunders and husband, Gary of Concord, NC; a step-daughter-in-law, Jo Clark, and a step-son, Garry Furr and wife, Clarice of Denton, NC; seven grandchildren. Memorials may be made to Shadybrook Baptist Church, 1009 Oakwood Avenue, Kannapolis, NC 28081.
