Johnsie Overcash Riley

Obituary: Johnsie Overcash Riley, 92, of Mooresville went to be with the Lord on Saturday, October 8, 2016 at her residence. Johnsie was born February 14, 1924 in Rowan County, NC a daughter of the late George S. Overcash, Sr. and the late Cora Goodnight Overcash. She was a member of St. Enoch Lutheran Church, the Morning Glories Circle and the Friendship Group. She was employed by Cannon Mills Plt. #1, weave room, retiring with 42 years of service. Her family fondly remembers her passion of baking and decorating cakes, her skill as a seamstress, her love of gardening and serving as a den mother for the Poplar Tent Cub Scouts. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband, John Frank Riley, Sr. on July 13, 2003 and a son, John Frank Riley, Jr. Survivors include her son, Chris Riley and wife Glenita of Mooresville, one sister, Betty Leigh Leggitt of Columbus, NC, five grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, October 12, 2016 at St. Enoch Lutheran Church conducted by Rev. Dale Cline and Rev. Steve Ayers. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Whitley's Funeral Home Tuesday, October 11, 2016 from 6:00 P.M.-8:00 P.M. At other times they will be at the residence of her son, Chris.
