Jonathan "Randy" Mcbride

Landis, NC - Jonathan Randall "Randy" McBride, 75, passed away on Thursday, February 1, 2024, at his home following a brief illness. Family surrounded him. He was born on August 3, 1948, in Cabarrus Co.

Randy was the son of Herman Hardin and Jeanette Underwood. Randy graduated from A.L. Brown High School In 1967 and Rowan Cabarrus Community College in 1998. He attended NCSU, CPCC, and Gaston College.

Randy and Shelley Keever were married in 1969 and would have celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary on Valentine's Day. Before his retirement in 2007, he served as Director of Internet Operations for CTC. Randy served on the board of The Kannapolis History Associates. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by grandsons Jonathan Dean Ingle and Landon Coleﹶ Ingle, granddaughter Chloe Marie Ingle, “brother” Justin Keever, stepfather Floyd McBride, and step-sisters Tina and Melinda McBride.

Survivors include wife Shelley McBride, son Jonathan "Chris" McBride (Aibeth) of Evans, GA, daughter Lauri Ingle (Scott), China Grove, and Traci Huneycutt (Kendale) of Locust, four grandchildren Candi McBride Austin, Jonathan McBride, Logan Ingle and Brandon Shull, two great-grandchildren, Hayes McBride and Allie Mae Huneycutt. Other extraordinary family members are Dean Keever (Melissa), Regis McLean (Dayton), Phyllis Powell (John), Paul Keever (Susan), and numerous nieces and nephews. Before his death, on Sunday, January 28, more than 100 family and friends gathered at his home for a celebration of his life.

The family will receive friends from 10-11 am Tuesday, February 6th, at Whitley’s Funeral Home.  Services to remember and celebrate Randy’s life will begin at 11:00 am in the funeral home chapel, conducted by Pastor Norman Black.  Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park.
