Joni Lynn Savage Mcgraw

Obituary: Concord, NC- Joni Lynn Savage McGraw, age 46, died Thursday, May 28, 2009 at the Bob & Carolyn Tucker Hospice House, Kannapolis, NC. She was born September 4, 1962 in Portsmouth, Virginia, the daughter of Shirley Haggard Webb and the late Edward J. Webb. She was preceded in death by her brother, Jon M. Steinkamp, Jr.; her maternal grandparents, Raymond & Jean Haggard who had lived in Cincinnati, Ohio; and her paternal grandparents, Charles & Hildrade Webb who lived in Lerona, W. VA. In addition to her mother left to cherish her memories are her beloved husband, James R. McGraw; daughter, Carolann Michelle McGraw of Concord, NC; and son & daughter-in-law, Michael and Chan Suk Savage of Seoul, Korea; sister, Kelley Jama and family of Columbia, Maryland; and several brothers-in-laws, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, and cousins. Joni graduated from Concord University in Athens, West Virginia with a B.A. in Education; Marshall University with a M.A. in Education. She was well loved by not only her students but her fellow educators where she taught in the public school system in Mercer County, West Virginia and Cabarrus County Schools for 26 years. She touched many lives and will be missed by all who knew her. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Saturday, May 31, 2009 at Whitley's Funeral Home, 1748 Dale Earnhardt Blvd., Kannapolis, NC. Her body will then be taken to Memorial Funeral Directory, Athens Road, Princeton, West Virginia for the family to receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Monday, June 1, 2009. The funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 2, 2009 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Princeton, West Virginia. Burial will follow at Athens Cemetery, Athens, West Virginia.
