Obituary: KANNAPOLIS - Jordan Scott Cunningham, 18, of 1229 Moss Acres Ct., died peacefully in his sleep at home on Friday, April 10. There will be a graveside service at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 14, at Carolina Memorial Park with the Rev. Garland Faw officiating. The family will receive friends Monday, April 13, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Whitley's Funeral Home. Jordan was born on Sept. 21, 1990 in Point Pleasant, W.Va., the son of Gregory A. Cunningham Jr., of Charlotte, and Terri Lynn Stowers, of Kannapolis. He moved to this area in 1995. He attended A. L. Brown High School. Jordan was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Rhonda Cunningham. In addition to his parents, Jordan is survived by his daughter, Emily Alexis Byrd, and his girlfriend, Brooke Byrd, both of the family home. He is also survived by his brother, Dustin Abercrombie, of Dallas, Texas; his maternal grandmother, Barbara Mullins Stowers, and his maternal grandfather, Kennie Harris Stowers, both of West Virginia; his paternal grandfather, Gregory A. Cunningham Sr., of Virginia; and his paternal great-grandmother, Anna Jean Jackson, of West Virginia. Online condolences may be left at www.whitleysfuneralhome.com. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a trust fund that will be set up for his children.
