Joseph Charles Blevins

Obituary: Concord - Joseph Charles Blevins, 89, of Eden Gardens, Concord died May 3, 2009 at Liberty Commons Nursing Center in Salisbury, NC. Born in Ashe County, NC he was the son of the late William Arthur Blevins and the late Annie Johnston Blevins. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Somlo Valeria Blevins as well as three sisters and one brother: Vesta Teague, Lena Ashley, Alma Stancil and Gwyn Blevins. He is survived by a sister, Hazel Leonard of Kannapolis, NC and a brother, Fred Blevins of Athens, GA as well as a number of nieces and nephews. Mr. Blevins retired in 1965 as a Major with the U.S. Army after 24 years of service. His funeral will take place at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 6, 2009, Graveside Services at the National Cemetery in Salisbury, NC conducted by Rev. Trent Patterson.
