Obituary: Joseph Jacob Fowler, 85, of Kannapolis passed away on Friday, Dec. 28, 2012 at his home. He was born April 5, 1927 in Davidson County, the son of the late Jake and Lucy Long Fowler. He was preceded in death by his wife, Doris Harrington Fowler on April 28, 2012. He was a 1944 graduate of Thomasville High School and a 1959 graduate of Catawba College. He was a veteran of the US Army serving in WW II and in the Korean War where he was a Staff Sergeant with the 151st Division. He retired from Spectrum Consolidated Sales, High Point after 33 years. He was a lifelong golfer and also played semi-pro baseball with the Class C Hi-Toms team in his earlier years. He was a member of North Kannapolis Baptist Church. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 PM Monday, December 31, 2012 at Carolina Memorial Park officiated by Rev. Mike Hubbard. He is survived by a son, Randall Fowler of Kannapolis, a daughter, Donna Fowler Walton and husband Rick of High Point, three grandchildren, Katharine Grace Fowler of Charlotte, Kristopher Jacob Walton and Melissa Brooke Walton of High Point, a sister Mozelle Tolson of Thomasville and a brother, Clyde Fowler and wife Verna of Thomasville, numerous nieces, nephews and special friends. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Cabarrus County, 5003 Hospice Lane, Kannapolis, NC 28081.
