Obituary: Mr. Joseph Lewis Wood, 88, of Concord, formerly of Central Square, New York went to be with the Lord on Thursday, February 1, 2018 at Carolinas Health Care-Northeast Medical Center, Concord. Death was unexpected. Joseph was born July 14, 1929 in Onondaga County, NY, a son of the late Ernest and Eidelwiess Wood. Also preceding him in death was his son, Joseph Arthur Wood and his wife, Mae Alice Dycus Wood who died February 5, 2012. Joseph was a truck driver for Sears Oil and Whitacre Engineering Company until his retirement in 1991. He was a member of the Teamsters Union 317 and enjoyed fishing, camping and attending country western concerts. In accordance with Mr. Wood's request, he will be cremated and no services will be held. He is also survived by one son, Scott Wood of Liverpool, NY, three daughters, Brenda Hance and Cynthia Wood both of Simpsonville, SC, and Elaine Phillips of Camillus, NY two sisters; Mary and Jane of Florida. Also surviving are twelve grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and five great great grandchildren. When Joseph married his wife Mae he also became a father to her children; three daughters, Donna Gazillo and husband Paul of St Charles, IL, Sandra Jarvis and husband James of Concord, NC and Cynthia Lamkay and husband Philip of Baldwinsville, NY, one son, Ralph Finlayson and wife Maureen of Brewerton, NY, nine grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren. In lieu of floral arrangements memorials may be made to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA), 424 E. 92nd St., New York, NY 10128-6804.
