Obituary: Joshua Michael "Josh" Poteat, 29, of Kannapolis, died Saturday, August 13, 2011 at his home. His death was unexpected.Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, August 17 at North Kannapolis Wesleyan Church, with Rev. Steven Cline and Rev. Trent Patterson officiating. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at Whitley's Funeral Home on Tuesday, August 16 from 7:00 to 9:00 PM. At other times they will be at the family home.Josh was born August 9, 1982 in Cabarrus Co., the son of Mark David Poteat and Karen Joplin Poteat. He was a life long area resident, graduating from South Rowan High School in 2000. Josh was a machinist at Poteat's Engine Rebuilding in Kannapolis.He was a member of North Kannapolis Wesleyan Church. He enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing, spending time on the lake and working in the shop. Josh was a beloved son, brother, grandson and friend. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Clyde L. Poteat.In addition to his parents, Josh is survived by his 2 sisters; Carrie Poteat Seldomridge and husband, Andrew and Taylor Joplin, Paternal grandmother, Betty Jo Poteat and Maternal Grandparents, Olin and Catherine Joplin, all of Kannapolis.
