Obituary: Joyce "Jay" Clinkscales, 77, of Kannapolis died unexpectedly on Thursday, Jan. 12, 2011 at her home.The funeral service, in celebration of her life, will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, January 17 at Whitley's Funeral Home Main Chapel with Rev. David Teague officiating. Burial will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park, China Grove. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 10:00 to 11:00 AM.Joyce was born June 25, 1934, in Richmond Co., a daughter of the late John S. and Grace Swink McQueen. A life-long area resident, Joyce graduated from Cabarrus Memorial Hosp. School of Nursing and worked for Cabarrus Memorial Hospital until she retired. Joyce was a caring and generous woman, who loved her family, friends, and patients. She also was an experienced treasure hunter, who enjoyed frequenting yard sales and thrift stores, sharing her finds with those she loved. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.In addition to her parents, Joyce was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby L. Clinkscales in 2006. Survivors include her daughter, Debbi Deuvall (Bob) of Leland, NC, her sons; Barry Johnson (Melissa) of Powhatan VA and Nathan Johnson (Roxanne) of Salisbury, 6 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild and her brother, Clyde McQueen (Coleen) of TX.
