Joyce Irene (Burris) Smith

Joyce Burris Smith, 77, of China Grove, passed away April 24, 2022 at Kiser Hospice House, Salisbury, after a period of declining health. Born December 15, 1944 in Cabarrus County, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Florence Wensil Burris.
Joyce spent her working years as a seamstress in the textile industry in Mooresville. She enjoyed reading and doing puzzles, which her husband Charlie would make frames for.
Joyce is survived by her husband Charles Smith; her daughter, Donna Peele Mattison and husband Paul of Sherrill's Ford; her son, Don Peele, of Cornelius; two grandchildren, Hanna Mattison and Hunter Peele; three brothers, Dale Burris and wife Susan, Chris Burris and wife Merry, and James Burris; four step-sons, Jamey Smith and wife Traci, Danny Smith and wife Tammy, Chuck Smith and wife Kimanh, and Tim Smith; numerous step - grandchildren and step - great grandchildren.
A funeral service to honor Joyce's life will be held 2:00 PM Thursday, April 28, 2022 at Piedmont Baptist Church, 5870 Wright Rd., Kannapolis, NC 28081. Interment will follow in Carolina Memorial Park. Dr. Mike Edwards will officiate. The family will receive friends from 12:00 PM - 2:00PM, prior to the service at the church Thursday.
