Joyce (Loudermilk) Lineberger

Joyce Loudermilk Sweatt Lineberger, 86, of Kannapolis, passed away Monday morning, November 20, 2023, at Big Elm Nursing Center, where she had been a resident.

Born May 29, 1936, in Mooresville, NC, she was a daughter of the late Carl Clifton and Faye Lowder Loudermilk. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Howard Robert “HR’ Sweatt, Jr; her second husband, Lee Lineberger; a granddaughter, Rachel LeAnne Smalley; and a step son, Jerry Lineberger.

Joyce was a 1954 graduate of AL Brown High. She had been a lifelong and loyal member of Kirkwood Presbyterian Church, where she played the piano and organ for nearly 70 years. Joyce loved her Lord, her family and her church.  Although in a much better place today, Mrs. Lineberger will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Family members include her children, Cliff Sweatt (Shirley) and Sharon Smalley (Mike); grandchildren, Jon Smalley (Alicia Bass), Jen Smalley (Jason Larocque) and Heather Harris; great grandchildren, Parker Smalley, Makenzie Bass, Jesse and Zack; step children, Martha, Richard (Kathy), David and Jeff (Helena) Lineberger; her sister, Alice Edwards (Red); step grandchildren, Jillian, Joel (Carrie) and Melissa; step great grandchildren, Jericho, Rowan, Emma, Hannah and Wyatt Lineberger and extended family members.

The family will receive friends Saturday, November 25th from 1:00-2:00 pm at Whitley’s Funeral Home.  Funeral services will begin at 2:00 pm in the funeral home chapel, conducted by the Reverend Dennis Craft.  Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park.
