Joyce Langley Litaker

Obituary: Joyce Langley Litaker, age 77, went home to be with her Lord on Saturday, January 3, 2015. She spent her last days at her daughter's home surrounded by many family and friends. She had been ill for many years prior and had spent the last seven months in declining health. She was born April 2, 1937 in Cabarrus County, NC, the daughter of the late Otis L. Langley and Margaret Lacefield Langley. Joyce was employed for twenty-two years with the former Fieldcrest-Cannon, Inc. Plant Six in Concord. She was an active member of Charity Baptist Church, Kannapolis, NC until she could go not longer. Joyce liked to sing and she spent most of her life helping her family and taking care of her husband, and her mother before their deaths. She was a wonderful wife and mother. Also, Joyce loved spending time with her children and grandchildren and was a great friend to all. She was also loved by everyone who met her. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Bill Litaker who died in 1998; a brother, Richard Langley; and a great-grandchild, Mason Wilhelm. The funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM Tuesday, January 6 at Whitley's Funeral Home Main Chapel, Kannapolis, NC officiated by Rev. R.J. Hammond and Rev. Ron Bushey. Burial will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park, China Grove, NC. The family will receive friends from 11:30 to 12:30 PM at the funeral home prior to the funeral. The family will be at the home of her daughter, Donna Whitley, the remainder of the time. Survivors include her four children, William Litaker, Donna Litaker Whitley & husband, Randy, Danny Litaker & wife, Susan, and David Litaker, all of Kannapolis, NC; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two sister-in-laws, Frances Morrow and Carolyn Litaker, both of Concord, NC; two cousins, Janice Ritchie & husband, Tony and Mike Lacefield, both of Concord, NC; and an aunt, Ann Langley & husband, Jimmy of Ayden, NC; and a second cousin, Jeff Ritchie of Concord, NC.
