Obituary: Kannapolis, NC Joyce Beam McNair, 72, died on Tuesday, January 26, 2010 at Autumn Care of Salisbury. Joyce was born October 20, 1937 in Cabarrus County, to the late Ira A. Beam and Dorothy Robinson Beam Query. She was a homemaker, an avid reader and also wrote acrostic poetry for family and friends. She loved all animals, but had a special love for cats. Joyce lived most of her adult life in Candor, NC but had been a resident of Autumn Care since 2002. In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her husband, Julian H. McNair, an infant sister, Shirley Beam and her step-father, Millard Query. Mrs. McNair is survived by her sisters, Brenda Hepler and husband Lonnie of Lexington, and Gail Shinn and husband, Michael of China Grove: nieces, Rachel Buchanan and husband Richard, of Brooklyn, NY., Elisabeth Johnson and husband Tim, of Lexington: nephew, David Shinn of China Grove, Great-Nephew, Mitchell Chandler and great-niece, Elisa Chandler, both of Lexington. Graveside services and entombment will be 3:30 P.M. Thursday, January 28, 2010 at West Lawn Memorial Park, China Grove. The Rev. David P. Franks will officiate. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorials be made to First Reformed Church, Building Fund, 210 N. Central Avenue, Landis, NC 28088, or Bethany United Methodist Church, Building Fund, 193 Bethany Road, Lexington, NC 27292. Whitley's Funeral Home is serving the family of Mrs. McNair.
