Joyce (Pope) Patterson

Joyce P. Patterson, 86, peacefully passed away Thursday morning, December 1, 2022, at Best of Care Assisted Living, where she had been a resident.

Born August 11, 1936, in Cabarrus County, she was a daughter of the late John and Vernie Burgess Pope. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by 4 brothers and a sister.

Joyce had been owner and operator of Nationwide Insurance Agency in Kannapolis for more than 40 years. She loved her family and enjoyed playing Bingo.

Family members include her daughters, Libby Dover (Danny), Risa Deas (Pete) and Sherri Howard (Tim); her sister, Jane Vannoy; 5 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 pm Monday, December 5th at Whitley’s Funeral Home.  Funeral services will begin at 2:00 pm in the funeral home chapel, conducted by Pastor Brad Jenkins.  Burial will follow in Carolina Memorial Park Cemetery.
