Joyce Scott Ritchie

Obituary: Joyce Scott Ritchie, 83 of Kannapolis passed away Monday, April 29, 2019 at the Tucker Hospice House. She was born May 14, 1935 in Cabarrus County, a daughter of the late Garland and Mae Utley Slawson. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Robert W. Scott and Wallace B. Ritchie, son, Timothy Scott and daughters, Dawn Scott Elwood and Gina Ritchie Hamilton. Joyce had previously been a franchise owner of H&R Block tax office and later co-owner of T & J Accounting. Joyce also was owner of J'Wally's restaurant in Kannapolis along with her late husband, Wallace. She was a member of Parkwood Baptist Church where she was a former choir member and was the financial secretary for the church for many years. Joyce loved sewing, camping and spending time with her family. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM Thursday, May 2, 2019 at Parkwood Baptist Church officiated by Rev. Michael Waters. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. Her family will receive friends prior from 11:30 to 1:00 PM at the church. Joyce is survived by her children, Danny Scott (Debbie), Michelle Carothers (Mike), Bryan Ritchie (Mandy), Leigh Ann Ritchie Towell (Rick), son in law, Ronnie Elwood, 8 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, and her sister, Judy Slawson Adcock (David).
