Obituary: Joyce Joplin Simmons, 51, of China Grove died Friday June 18, 2010 at her residence after a period of declining health. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday June 22, 2010, with the in the mausoleum chapel at West Lawn Memorial Park in China Grove with Rev. Patrick Garrett Officiating. Burial will follow. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Monday June 21 At Whitley's Funeral Home. Joyce was born on September 1, 1958 in Chesterfield County, SC. To the late David Sherman Joplin Sr. and Leona Gregory Fink of China Grove, NC. In addition to her father, she is preceded in death by a son Rodney Scott Joplin and two brothers, Richard and David Joplin. She is survived by a daughter, Stephanie Strickland of China Grove, NC, a granddaughter, Felicia Cagle, grandson Aiden Strickland, 4 sisters, Kathy Atkinson of China Grove, NC, Margaret Brown of Monroe, NC., Jackie Gantt of Gastonia, NC., Doris Ann Oliver of Pageland, SC, 2 brothers: Randy and Charles Joplin of China Grove, NC.
