Joyce Donahue Teague, lovingly known as Mama, Maw Maw, and GiGi, passed away on January 12, 2025, leaving behind a beautiful legacy of love, care, and devotion to her family. Born November 6, 1949, to Clyde Donahue and Eula Mae Collins, Joyce was a selfless and nurturing woman who found her greatest joy in caring for her loved ones.
She was a devoted mother to her children: daughter Lisa Teague Hunsucker (married to Scott Hunsucker), and sons Christopher Teague and Matthew Teague (married to Jennifer Teague). Joyce’s heart swelled with pride for her four grandchildren: Jordan Teague (married to Hayley Teague), Zoey Teague, Addison Teague, and Jackson Teague. Her joy grew even further with the arrival of her great-granddaughter, Sunny Rose, who brought so much happiness to her life.
Joyce is also survived by her cherished sister, Betty Bynum (married to Eddie Bynum), and many nieces, nephews, and extended family who will miss her deeply.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Roy Alton Teague, of 36 years of marriage, as well as her parents Clyde and Eula Mae. Joyce was also preceded by her two sisters, Clara Kidd and Azalei Donahue, and her brother, Roy Donahue.
Joyce’s life was defined by her love for her family. She enjoyed baking, staying active, and always finding ways to bring joy to those around her. Before retiring from the pharmaceutical distribution industry, Joyce earned her GED and pursued college credits in cosmetology, demonstrating her passion for learning and self-improvement.
Visitation for Joyce will be held on Thursday, January 16, 2025, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Whitley’s Funeral Home, 1748 Dale Earnhardt Blvd., Kannapolis. A funeral service will be held on Friday, January 17, 2025, at 1:00 PM in Whitley’s Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Jim Harris officiating. Burial will be in Carolina Memorial Park, Kannapolis.
Rest in peace, Mama, Maw Maw, and GiGi—you will forever be in our hearts, and your love will continue to guide us.
