Obituary: Juanita Elizabeth Williams Barger Juanita passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, May 21 surrounded by her loving family. She was blessed to live 95 healthy and vibrant years. Juanita was born in Clinton, SC on October 10, 1920 to the late Rufus and Mary Williams. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by 2 brothers and 4 sisters. She is survived by her husband of 73 years, MJ Barger of the home; daughter Suzanne Barger Nystrom (Lars) of Wilmington, son William Scott Barger (Nancy) of Kannapolis, grandchildren Elizabeth Huggins Benning (Dennis) and son Jett of Charlotte, Ali Barger Farabee (Brandon) and son Tucker and daughter Emme of Kannapolis, William Matt Barger of Charlotte and Andrew Nystrom (Aimee) and family of Omaha, NE. Juanita grew up the youngest of 7 children in Concord, NC where she graduated from Concord High School in 1939. She worked for many years as a secretary at The Department of Social Services of Cabarrus County. Later, she worked in the Women's Department of the YMCA and also served as a counselor for Tri-Hi-Y. Juanita volunteered much of her time to Meals on Wheels where she and MJ won several honorary awards for 35 years of dedicated service. She also enjoyed dancing in her younger days and later joined MJ as a member of the Cannoneers Square Dance Club. She and MJ spent many of their retirement years traveling with MJ's Naval Reserves Group. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am Tuesday, May 24, 2016 at St. John's Reformed Church, Kannapolis, NC where she was a long time member. Visitation will be from 10:00 am -11:00 am in the church sanctuary prior to the service.
