Juanita Harrington Brawley, 99, of Kannapolis died Tuesday, September 17th at Best of Care Assisted Living in Kannapolis.

 Born on November 4, 1924 in Cabarrus County, she was the oldest daughter of the late Allen Lee Harrington and Thelma Baucom Harrington. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Ellen Grace Brumley and Anna Mae Miller.

On June 12, 1943 Juanita married the love of her life, Jack Brawley. Most of her adult life she was a homemaker. Later in life, she worked for the Rowan County School System at Bostian Elementary School and then at South Rowan Senior High School. Along with her husband Jack, she spent her retirement years traveling throughout the United States and enjoying the scenery. Juanita and Jack were married 77 years and celebrated that anniversary at Best of Care, where they made their home. Her husband Jack passed away January 13, 2021.

Juanita’s survivors include her two daughters, Carol Shuping of Rockwell and Jackie Cross and her husband Reid of China Grove; her son, Dennis Brawley and wife Pam of Kannapolis. Juanita is also survived by 8 grandchildren and their spouses, 17 great-grandchildren and 1 great- great grandchild.

Visitation will be Friday, September 20th from 12:00-1:30 at Whitley’s Funeral Home in Kannapolis. All services will be private.

In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that memorial donations be made in Juanita’s memory to New Hope Lutheran Church, 1615 Brantley Road, Kannapolis, NC.
