Juanita Marie Hinson Whitley

Obituary: Albemarle, NC Juanita Marie Hinson Whitley, age 86, of Albemarle died Saturday, Dec. 19, 2009 bat Stanley Memorial Hospital, Albemarle after 1 month declining health. A funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday, Dec. 20 at Bethel Wesleyan Church in Concord with Rev. Joe Harding and Rev. Michael Grier officiating. Her family will receive friends at the church fellowship hall from 2:00 to 3:00 PM prior to the funeral. Private interment will take place. Juanita was born May 19, 1923 in Stanley Co. NC, the daughter of the late Adolphus and Emily Carter Hinson. She was saved in the Congregational Christian Church at a young age and loved being a minister's wife and a Sunday School teacher for over 60 years. She was the greatest asset of Rev. Byron Whitley's ministry. In addition to her husband of 63 years, Rev. Byron Whitley she is survived by her son, Mike Whitley and wife, Christy of Lake Tillery and her daughter, Jan Whitley Morrison of Kannapolis. Grandchildren include Steve Whitley of Albemarle and her granddaughters, who were her namesakes, Amy Marie Cohen and husband, Robbie of Lake Tillery and Mari Marie Morrison of Kannapolis. She is survived by 3 great-grandchildren; Riley, Julianna and Jake Cohen. Juanita was the last survivor of 10 brothers and sisters. She will be spending Christmas with Jesus, her family, her son-in-law Ed Morrison and her best friend, Lena Ford.
