Judith Elaine (Davis) Hill

Judith Elaine Davis Hill, 81 years old, of Kannapolis, went to be with her Lord and Savior on December 7, 2023, surrounded by her family.  Judi was born on July 12, 1942, in Cabarrus County to the late Lewis and Hazel Overcash Davis.

Judi was a graduate of A.L. Brown High School in 1960 and a graduate of Lenoir-Rhyne University in 1964.  After graduating she started her career in teaching in Salisbury, NC and in North Dakota before returning to North Carolina to teach at A.L. Brown High School where she graduated. During the early 1970’s, Judi took a break from teaching while raising her children and was a tour guide at Cannon Mills.  Judi then returned to teaching English and Journalism at A.L. Brown High School.  In 1989 she received her master’s degree in library science from UNCG and became the school’s librarian until her retirement.

Judi was a lifelong member of Kimball Memorial Lutheran Church and was a board member for the church’s preschool. Judi enjoyed every year going to the beach with her girlfriends from high school and college and after retirement she and her husband Bob also enjoyed traveling worldwide.

Judi was predeceased by her son, Andrew Hill and her brother Roger Davis.  Those left to cherish her memory are her husband of 58 years, Owen Robert “Bob” Hill; her daughter, Deborah Johns and her husband Shane; her grandchildren, Robert Brummel, Zachary Hill, Brandy Ashley and her husband Jeremy, Krystal Johns and her wife Paula; her great grandchildren, Landon and Payton Ashley; her niece Sara Davis; her nephew Jonathan Davis; her great niece Rianna Davis and her great nephew Warrik Davis.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, December 12, 2023, from 6-8pm at Whitley’s Funeral Home.  A funeral service celebrating her life will be held on Wednesday, December 13, 2023, 2pm at Kimball Memorial Lutheran Church, with the interment to follow in Carolina Memorial Park.

Memorial contributions can be made in Judi’s memory to Kimball Memorial Lutheran Church or Hospice & Palliative Care of Cabarrus County.
